Woods Adds Nike’s new SasQuatch 2 Fairway Wood to his Arsenal of Nike Golf Equipment

BEAVERTON, Ore. (January 29, 2007) – Tiger Woods began the 2007 season where he left off in 2006 by posting his seventh consecutive PGA Tour title and his fifth Buick Invitational victory. Woods’ six-under-par final round of 66 brought him from two strokes back to capture his 55th career title. His triumph also keeps him on track to match Byron Nelson’s record of winning 11 straight PGA Tour events, which was first etched in the history books in 1945. Woods’ compelling streak began last July at The Open Championship.

At the Buick Invitational, his first event of the year, Woods caught up with the pack on the par-5 ninth hole after bombing Nike Golf’s new SasQuatch 2 Fairway Wood to 25-feet and making the putt for eagle to tie for the lead. Nike’s 15-degree SasQuatch 2 Fairway Wood is the newest addition to Woods’ Nike arsenal.

The SasQuatch 2 Fairway Wood features a monorail sole that interacts with all types of turf to make it easier to hit from all types of lies. Featuring a cryo steel face, the SasQuatch 2 Fairway metal has added geometry to the bottom perimeter of the new PowerBow, which moves CG lower and farther back, increases MOI, while maintaining an appealing traditional top view.

In addition to his spectacular play with his new SasQuatch 2 Fairway Wood, Woods’ week was also highlighted by his monstrous drives which averaged 317 yards with the combination of his Nike SasQuatch Tour Driver, the winningest driver on the PGA Tour in 2006, and the new and improved Nike One Platinum ball. With the help of his Nike Blades and Nike’s One Platinum ball, Woods ranked fifth in the field in greens in regulation and saved par from the bunker on holes 14 and 15 to stay in control. His victory was sealed by his birdie on the 17th hole, where he hit his approach from 143 yards to within 30 inches of the hole.

Rounding out Woods’ arsenal of Nike Golf equipment were his 19-degree Ignite T40 fairway wood and his 56 and 60 degree Nike wedges. Woods also wore his own line of Nike Golf apparel from the Tiger Woods Collection, SP 8 TW Tour footwear and Nike’s Dri-FIT Tour glove.
