Nickent Strikes Gold With Rookie Jeff Quinney on PGA Tour!

January 31, 2007

PGA Tour rookie Jeff Quinney has had himself quite a start on the PGA Tour. The Nickent Golf staff phenom has finished in the Top 10 of each of his last two PGA Tour events, his first three events as an exempt player on the PGA Tour.

Quinney currently sits 10th in the FedEx Cup standings and has been in contention to win the last two events, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and the Buick Invitational. He even produced a hole-in-one on hole 17 of Sunday’s round at La Quinta, giving Nickent Golf worldwide exposure for their star staff player.

Quinney also played with the world’s # 1 player Saturday in San Diego and led the event Sunday before "the greatest in the game" won his seventh PGA Tour event in a row. Company officials say that due to the major exposure received the past two weeks, the phones at Nickent Golf’s new headquarters have been ringing off the hook.

"What can we say? We love Jeff Quinney," said CEO of Nickent Michael Lee. "We knew he had all the talent in the world since he was the 2000 U.S. Amateur Champion and he had a great season last year for us on the Nationwide Tour. We came with Jeff to the big tour this year, and he has given us some of the proudest moments we have ever had as a company. He is such a great person and we are ecstatic to have him on the Nickent team."

Quinney is currently 1st on the PGA Tour in eagles, 23rd in scoring average, 4th in par 3 performance and 2nd in Top 10 finishes. Not bad for a 2006 Nationwide Tour graduate who has only played a handful of PGA Tour events before this year.

"The Nationwide Tour players are all over the leader board so far this season," said Lee. "It is great for us to see all these young stars challenging the best players in the world. It says a lot about what we have been doing the past few years on the tour we consider our home."

Another recent Nationwide grad also finished in the Top 10 of the Buick Invitational using a Nickent hybrid. The current leader in driving distance, at 323 yards, has earned $228,471 in 2007. Quinney has earned $398,100 so far this season, compared to the $317,802 he earned as the # 6 finisher on the official 2006 Nationwide Tour money list.

When Quinney was asked about his recent roller coaster ride to PGA Tour stardom and how he could keep up the momentum, he said he had to remain focused.

"I have everything to gain and nothing to lose," said Quinney. "It’s pretty much my first time being somewhat near the lead on the PGA Tour. Obviously, I was there a lot last year on the Nationwide Tour, which is totally different. But hopefully I can just draw on the experiences that I had last year and just play good."

"It’s a battle I’m going to have mentally to not put that much pressure on myself and just play the game I’ve been playing," he said. "I’m just proud of the fact that I am in contention because the more times you get there, the more comfortable you get. I know that that’s the way it was with the Nationwide Tour. You don’t know what it’s like until you get there."

"I have a lot of confidence with my Nickent clubs, especially their hybrids" continued Quinney. "When I need a straight shot off the tee or a high soft shot into a par five, I can always count on them."
