CHAMP Dominates on Tours and PGA Show in Orlando
Marlborough, MA-January 30, 2007-Hot on the heels of a successful Demo Day and PGA Show in Orlando, CHAMP® Spikes put its best foot forward as it earned two tour wins this past weekend. CHAMP spikes spanned the globe, winners at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters and at the Buick Invitational in San Diego.
At Torrey Pines, the number one golfer in the world started this year where he left off in 2006, in the winner’s circle. At the Buick, he sported CHAMP Cermec® spikes for the championship, his fifth overall Buick title and seventh straight PGA victory. He is now just four wins shy of tying the all-time consecutive wins record held by CHAMP Spikes’ namesake, Byron "Champ" Nelson. The victor began his charge to the front on the ninth hole with a 25 foot eagle putt and finished the pack off with a two foot birdie on the 17th hole. Across the globe, the world’s eighth ranked player, was also wearing CHAMP Spikes but he chose the Stingerâ?¢ for his unbelievable comeback in Qatar. The winner was two shots down with two holes remaining before draining a remarkable birdie, eagle finish for the title. At Qatar, CHAMP once again dominated the statistics, finishing with a majority of the field wearing their spikes as 43% of the golfers chose CHAMP. The next closest manufacturer had just 27% of the field.
