ORLANDO, FL (January 26, 2007) – It was announced today that Element 21 Golf received the prestigious ING (International Network of Golf Writer’s) Industry Honors Award for the Best PR/Campaign Event in 2006 in recognition of its Golf Shot Around The World.
The award was presented to e21 CEO, Nataliya Hearn at a ceremony held during The 2007 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida on Friday January 26th. This was the 14th year for the ING Industry Honors, created to recognize outstanding achievement in various business categories within golf. They are considered to be the "Oscars" of the golf industry – CBS Golf commentator Mary Bryan was the master of ceremonies for the event and states "My hat is off to e21 for their efforts to bring golf to outer space and back. The worldwide attention they have created for both e21 Scandium and golf in general is remarkable."
ING is a non-profit, media-based networking organization whose mission is to bring golf media together with representatives from all walks of the golf industry to discuss issues, exchange information and improve communication. It’s Honors program recognizes outstanding achievement in 12 business-related categories, such as product ingenuity, TV commercials, PR campaigns, business achievement, player development, print advertising, golf course design and tournament service.
The nomination process takes place throughout the golf season. Nominations may be submitted by anyone in the golf industry and through sub-committee voting, nominees are narrowed down to three per category, then winners are determined by vote of ING members.
E21 is happy to add this award to their growing collection since the inception of the company, including the award for "Most Forgiving Game Improvement Irons" for e21 Eagle One Irons, and "Best Feel" for e21 Hybrids, both from Golfing Magazine.
"The Golf Shot Around The World was a huge endeavor for us and we are very honored to be recognized by our peers in the golf industry like this," said Bill Dey, COO of Element 21 Golf. "The ING Industry Honors Awards only recognize the innovators and leaders in the industry and we’re proud to be considered one of them."
Element 21 Golf Shot Around The World
On the eve of Thanksgiving, November 22nd, 2006 at approximately 7:57 pm EST, Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin successfully hit a golf ball off of the orbiting International Space Station, 220 miles above the earth, using an e21 gold-plated 5 iron. This historic ball flight can be tracked on the Element 21 website http://www.e21.ca/golf_ball_tracking/, and will become the smallest orbiting purpose-built satellite to be tracked live from Earth.
Millions and millions of people watched the e21 sponsored event take place live, via satellite feed provided by NASA to North America and by Eurovision to the entire world. The ‘space shot’ was covered by the worldwide press in all mediums, including networks such as ABC, ESPN, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, CTV, Global, CBC, The Golf Channel, and Discovery in North America alone. Europe, Africa, and Australia televised segments of the golf shot in space, while all of South East Asia picked up the E21-sponsored Eurovision satellite feed, and provided hundreds of 1-3 minute reports across China through 4 state-owned television networks. Japan and South Korea televised the event through at least 6 top national networks and most local newspapers across the globe featured this incredible feat in golf history.
About Element 21 Golf Company:
Element 21 Golf Company is a Delaware company trading on the OTCBB and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FWB) with offices in New Jersey, USA and Toronto, Canada. E21 holds the exclusive right to manufacture golf products using it’s proprietary E21 Scandium Metal Alloy. Simply put, E21 clubs are using next-generation technology that delivers marked improvements in distance, consistency, accuracy and feel over any of the most popular products in the $5.5 billion U.S. golf equipment marketplace.
Based on this superior performance, a number of high profile golf professionals have switched to or have begun testing E21’s Eagle One shafts in recent months.
E21 Scandium Metal Alloy is the secret behind this advanced performance. Originally developed for advanced aeronautics in jet fighters such as the MiG, it is 55% lighter and offers a 25% greater strength-to-weight advantage over Titanium alloys, the current standard in the golf equipment industry. E21 Scandium Metal Alloys allows greater freedom to move more weight to the perimeter of the club face in woods and hybrids than any other metal, resulting in a significantly larger sweet spot than any other club head. Additionally, E21 Scandium Metal Alloy shafts are almost perfectly symmetrical at 99.5-99.9%, compared to 60-78% typical in graphite shafts and 80-85% for steel.
