Jacobsen renews education effort with GCSAA
Jacobsen, a Textron Inc. company (NYSE: TXT), has renewed its agreement with the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) to sponsor educational seminars for GCSAA members through the end of 2007.
This year 20 new titles will be added to the list of more than 100 seminars offered through the 2007 GCSAA Education Conference (Feb. 19-24) and Golf Industry Show (Feb. 22-24) in Anaheim, Calif., as well as events hosted by GCSAA affiliate chapters across the country throughout the year. The seminars are taught by a combination of golf course superintendents, university professors and industry experts. They comprise a comprehensive curriculum that provides relevant and timely information customized to meet the immediate needs of both superintendents and their facilities.
"GCSAA is the premier provider of continuing education for golf course superintendents," said Shari Koehler, GCSAA director of education. "Jacobsen’s commitment to education within the turf industry has played a critical role in GCSAA achieving that position."
This will be the 10th year that Jacobsen has sponsored the GCSAA educational seminar program.
"Continuing education is an important part of staying on top of any field, but it’s particularly essential to professionals in a constantly changing field like golf course management," said Ralph Nicotera, Jacobsen vice president of sales. "Jacobsen has always had a strong commitment to education, and we are happy to team with an organization like GCSAA which does so much for the entire industry through its education efforts."
Each year, at least 8,000 golf course superintendents attend these seminars nationwide. A larger number is expected this year as a result of increased opportunities.
Jacobsen manufactures a full range of turf maintenance equipment and vehicles for golf courses, sports fields, and municipal grounds applications. The company markets Jacobsen brand products internationally through an extensive independent distribution network, and Ransomes brand products through independent distributors in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
