(Rutland, VT) – The Vermont Golf Association’s first major competition for the 2007 golf season, the Four-Ball Tournament, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 5th and 6th. The format will be two-man team with 36 holes, best-ball stroke play.
Competition will take place at Dorset Field Club, Gleneagles at Equinox, Manchester Country Club, and Rutland Country. 18 holes will be played on Saturday with 18 holes on Sunday at a different participating course. Each team member is entitled to a practice round that can be scheduled with the courses between April 30th and May 4th. The entry fee is $200.00 per team.
The Tournament is open to any Vermont amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Vermont, is a member in good standing of a VGA member club, and eligible to participate in his club’s championship. Non-Vermont resident golfers must be a member of any VGA member club (with real estate) for the past 3 years, having played a minimum of 20 rounds of golf at the club and eligible to participate in his club’s championship.
Teams will be flighted based upon combined team handicaps:
1. Championship Flight: Combined handicaps of 12 or less,
2. "A" Flight: Combined handicaps of 13 or more. Flights of 16 teams,
3. Senior Flight: Each team member must be 55 or older.
