(LONDONDERRY, New Hampshire) – Renowned Danish shoemaker ECCO announces that PGA Tour star Aaron Baddeley wore its exclusive World Class Collection golf shoes and displayed the company logo on the collar of his golf shirt while capturing the FBR Open this past weekend at the TPC Scottsdale in Arizona.
The 26-year-old Australian notched dramatic birdies at the 15th, 16th and 17th holes to claim his second PGA Tour victory after last year’s Verizon Heritage. Baddeley’s pair of weekend 64s and 21-under-par four-round total was good enough for a one-stroke victory, bringing a $1.08 million prize and moving him to fourth on the FedExCup points list.
"I was definitely a lot more calm today than last year at the Verizon Heritage," said Baddeley. "I had a lot more confidence probably because I had been there, but also that I was more comfortable in my golf swing from all the hard work I’ve been putting in."
"Aaron is only 26 and having already won twice on the PGA Tour means he has to be considered near the top of a very elite group of young players," says Jesper Thuen, Sponsor and Event Manager for ECCO Golf. "He’s been a wonderful ECCO brand ambassador for years and we’re happy to see him achieving such great success."
Known his fashion flare and sterling short game, "Badds" was one of the most celebrated amateurs in history. He burst onto the international golf scene in 1999 by becoming the youngest player (17) ever to capture the Holden Australian Open. He has been a consistent performer since earning a spot on the PGA Tour via a 10th place finish on the 2002 Nationwide Tour.
ECCO golf shoes are also worn in competition by international Tour stars Fred Couples, Colin Montgomerie, Thomas Bjorn, Juli Inkster, Thongchai Jaidee, Meena Lee, Sophie Gustafson, Anna Rawson and others.
Matching innovative designs with cutting-edge technology and out-of-the-box comfort, the Spring/Summer 2007 ECCO Golf Collection includes classic, casual and sport models in a variety of new styles and colors alongside several returning favorites.
