FORT WORTH, Texas – The world’s leading innovator of high-performance golf shafts, United Sports Technologies® (UST) announces that the top-ranked American on the LPGA Tour, Cristie Kerr, has joined the UST Tour Staff. Kerr, who played UST in her Ping driver last year, will play the Proforce V2 in 2007.
Kerr is one of the game’s premier female athletes with nine career LPGA Tour victories, and she is among a Tour-record 11 players to earn $1 million in a season. In 2006, she won the Franklin American Mortgage Championship, CN Canadian Women’s Open and the John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic, and she scored 19 Top-10 finishes in 25 events. Just as strong as her drive for excellence on the golf course is Kerr’s passion to find a cure for breast cancer. Through her foundation, Birdies for Breast Cancer, Kerr leads an inspiring mission to eradicate breast cancer and has raised more than $250,000 since 2004.
"We’re very excited to welcome Cristie Kerr to our Tour staff," says Gene Simpson, vice president of sales and marketing for UST brands. "With an extremely low-torque design, the Proforce V2 shaft delivers the stable and consistent performance demanded by pros on all the world tours. Once more, the V2 is specially optimized to provide the ultimate performance when playing today’s 400cc to 460cc clubheads."
Today’s larger driver heads increase hit-ability for many golfers, explains Simpson. However, the larger heads also possess centers of gravity (CG) which have been repositioned further away from the shaft’s center line which results in more stress and twisting on the shaft. The V2’s low torque design provides the power and control needed for 400cc to 460cc heads, prevents clubheads from twisting open on impact, and limits the amount of back spin imparted onto the ball, thus transferring more energy at impact with superior control.
The Proforce V2 features a proprietary graphite fiber orientation to enable the shaft to recover consistently when loaded or flexed and to give the shaft an incredibly stable feel in the golfer’s hands. Combining fiber orientation with lower torque engineering and enhanced flexibility, the V2 provides unparalleled stability and consistency, and balances the tip section to achieve a medium ball flight with increased ball speed, while the optimized torque reduces spin for superior control.
