EL SEGUNDO, CA— Eaton Corporation’s Golf Pride brand, one of the leading brands in golf grips, has become the presenting sponsor of the two-week overnight camp experience for teen golfers between the ages of 11 and 17—dubbed the SoCal Swing, produced by two California golf organizations—The Southern California PGA (SCPGA) and Total Golf Adventures (TGA).
"We are excited that a prestigious company like Eaton has seen the value in our goal of promoting the game of golf, especially to our youth. Their commitment and support will enable us to provide a first-class experience," says Nikki Gatch, Assistant Executive Director and Junior Golf Director of the SCPGA
"We are delighted to have Eaton’s Golf Pride join us in our mission of not only introducing golf in a unique camp environment this summer, but also to help us in our collective mission of bringing as many junior golfers into the game as possible," said Joshua Jacobs, president and founder of TGA.
"This camp offers our brand a great opportunity to support the future generation of golfers, and to educate kids early on about how the right grip can directly benefit their game," says Dwight Miles, sales and marketing director for Eaton’s Golf Grip Division.
SCPGA, TGA and Golf Pride all share the same mission—help grow the game by introducing golf to as many juniors as possible.
There will be two, 14-day SoCal Swing golf camp sessions in 2007: July 8 to July 21 and July 22 to August 8.
The SoCal Swing is an odyssey across Southern California, covering golf course outings in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and San Diego. Golf highlights of the trip include golf at Torrey Pines South, home of the 2008 U.S. Open and The Buick Open; Trump National Golf Course, host of the Big Break VI, the TPC Stadium course at PGA West, the first home of The Skins Game and the current home of the final stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School.
In addition to amazing golf at other courses such as, The PGA of Southern California Golf Club, La Purisima, Sandpiper and the SCGA Course the campers also get a chance to tour some of the best colleges on the West Coast, UCLA, USC, UCSB and UCSD.
As if great golf and college research wasn’t enough, campers also crash Golf Excellence International (GEI), a state-of-the-art instruction facility run by Master PGA Professional David Wurzer, where their swings undergo a complete video analysis and then they take home a personalized DVD home with them.
PGA Professionals as well as TGA staff will run the two programs which will cover all aspects of the game. There will be approximately one instructor for every five campers. Special speakers along the way include: PGA professionals, SCPGA Representatives and executives from TaylorMade and Adidas Golf.
While this two-week ultimate golf camp is packed with golf outings, the ultimate camp experience also includes all the sights and sounds of the west coast including, two days at Southern California beaches, a tour of Hollywood, bowling nights and of course a full day at Disneyland.
