NikeFIT Keeps Golfers Dry, Warm and Protected
BEAVERTON, Ore. (January 18, 2006) – Nike Golf, the original pioneer and leader of incorporating technical fabrics into golf apparel design, is introducing NikeFIT – Functional Innovative Technology. NikeFIT clearly articulates the benefits of Nike Golf’s performance fabrics so that golfers can better understand how each of the technologies work. It is established to provide a clearer, simpler and more intuitive way of communicating the benefits of Nike Golf products that will connect with consumers.
"With all of the technology that Nike Golf offers in its apparel, it can be overwhelming for consumers to understand the benefits," said Doug Reed, Director of Apparel for Nike Golf. "With NikeFIT, we are able to make technology easier to understand by communicating the benefits up front. So we’ve simplified it this way — NikeFIT fabrics will keep the golfer dry, warm and protected."
As the new performance umbrella that houses all of the innovative technology that Nike Golf offers, NikeFIT apparel delivers three main consumer benefits:
NikeFIT Dry – features technology designed to keep the golfer dry and comfortable
NikeFIT Therma – features technology designed to keep the golfer warm without the bulk of the weight
NikeFIT Storm – features technology designed to keep the golfer protected from wind and rain
NikeFIT Dry fabrics help wick perspiration, providing rapid evaporation of sweat for a more comfortable round of golf. The technologies used for NikeFIT Dry are:
Dri-Fit and Dri-Fit UV – move or "wick" excess moisture from the surface of the skin, transporting it to the surface of the fabric, where it can then evaporate quickly. The Dri-Fit UV has the same properties of Dri-Fit with the addition of a minimum UV protection of UPF 30.
Dri-Fit Body Mapping – uses strategically placed ventilation zones in DriFIT fabrics to increase breathability and improve airflow across the body.
Nike Sphere Dry – wick moisture from the skin to the garment’s surface for quick evaporation. The fabric’s three-dimensional construction raises the fabric off the skin, creating air space for better airflow and reducing cling.
Nike Pro – provides a close fit to the skin while keeping you dry and comfortable during your round. Good layering pieces under all Nike Golf apparel.
NikeFIT Therma features fabrics to keep the golfer warm without bulk and weight:
· Therma Fit – is a microfibre fleece that is wind resistant, light weight and breathable. It is brushed on one side to provide insulation against the cold and trap the warm air in.
· Nike Sphere Thermal – provides the same lightweight warmth and has the Nike Sphere 3D structure on the inside, creating pockets of air that are warmed by the body, for a little extra protection from the cold.
NikeFIT Storm – is designed to keep the golfer protected from the wind and rain. There are three fabric technologies highlighted in NikeFIT Storm:
Storm Fit – is waterproof, windproof and breathable. Nike uses a 3-layer laminate to reduce the need for bulky liners. The fully seam-sealed, breathable garments completely block the wind and rain and are guaranteed for life.
Clima Fit – blocks wind and resists rain. The fabric has spaces too small for water droplets to get in, yet it is extremely breathable, allowing perspiration and body heat to escape. Clima Fit is ample protection in light wind and rain.
Nike Sphere Pro – combines lightweight thermal regulation with light wind and water protection. The Nike Sphere 3D structure on the inside of the fabric creates pockets of air that are warmed by the body. The breathable outer layer repels wind and rain.
Through the NikeFIT concept, consumers’ shopping experience will be easier. At retail, golfers will quickly become engaged by new NikeFIT seasonal graphics and will be directed to the NikeFIT system that best suits their needs, whether it’s to stay dry, stay warm or stay protected.
