MIAMI – Golf-industry veteran Gary Sheppard has joined Strategic Shaft Technologies as Director of Business Development, SST announced Monday.
Sheppard new role will include identifying and recuiting top-shelf clubmakers to the existing network of SST PURE licensees. The SST PURE® Shaft Alignment network is comprised of many of the best clubmakers throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

From 2002 to 2006, Gary was Vice President of Business Development for Golf Etc., where he helped create record sales of franchises and personally accounted for over 80% of all new business with the company in his last full year in 2005. Using proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE shaft alignment process analyzes the structural irregularities that exist to some degree in every golf shaft and locates the shaft’s most stable orientation. By assembling the club with the shaft in its PURE orientation, off-line bending and twisting of the shaft are minimized and impact repeatability on the center of the clubface by the golfer improves up to 51 percent. The process can be performed on existing clubs, new clubs or new shafts – steel or graphite – from most major manufacturers.
