ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – The First Tee announced today that Callaway Gardens will host the 5th annual Invitational for The First Tee. This event will take place Oct. 28-30 at the Pine Mountain, Georgia resort, which is located approximately 70 miles southwest of Atlanta.
"Callaway Gardens is synonymous with quality, and I am delighted it will host the Invitational this year. This is a tremendous opportunity to introduce corporate America to the young people who are benefiting from The First Tee Life Skills Experienceâ?¢," said Joe Louis Barrow, Jr., executive director of The First Tee.
Event proceeds will support The First Tee in its mission to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
"Callaway Gardens is very experienced in hosting major golf events after hosting the PGA TOUR’s Buick Challenge for over a decade," said Edward Callaway, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation, owner of Callaway Gardens. "Our new newest addition, the 150-room Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens nicely complements both the Mountain View and Lake View golf courses, and October is a spectacular time to be here. We look forward to a great tournament and a long and rewarding relationship with the Invitational for The First Tee."
"The Callaway family truly embraces the idea of hosting the Invitational for The First Tee on its fifth anniversary," said Bobby Rearden, co-chairman of Osprey Events, which produces the tournament. Co-chairman John Warren added that "The Invitational continues to provide sponsors with excellent networking, marketing, and hospitality opportunities while supporting the goals and objectives of The First Tee."
