MEMPHIS, TN. — Grafalloy shafts featuring nano-technologies stole the show on the pro tours this past weekend. At the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am on the Champions Tour, the champion won with his driver and fairway woods fit with Grafalloy Prototype Comp NT shafts which utilize carbon nanotubes into the resin system of the shaft for improved strength and consistency.
On the PGA Tour, the all-new Grafalloy EPIC® which features proprietary Nanofuse® material delivered a day’s best third-round score of 65 at the Nissan Open. The newly introduced Grafalloy Epic, which made its official debut at the FBR Open, features metallic nano-crystalline molecules — 1000 times smaller than the grain size of typical metallic structures — combined with high-modulus composite to create the revolutionary Nanofuse material.
"Our proprietary Nanofuse material found exclusively in Epic is created by harnessing the superior strength properties of nano-crystalline metals and fusing them at the molecular level with a composite polymer substrate. This is an entirely new material that offers the consistency of a steel golf shaft with the distance and feel of graphite," states Graeme Horwood, Vice President of Engineering/R&D for Grafalloy. "The end result is a shaft that produces increased distance off the tee with as much as a 35 percent improvement in shot dispersion compared to graphite shafts available today."
Epic is available for drivers, fairway woods and hybrids and will be available for purchase from aftermarket distributors and major OEM’s in March 2007.
