New York, February 20, 2007 – Golfweek, the game of golf’s global news report, and NBC Sports will create a golf content and promotional alliance starting with NBC’s broadcast coverage of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Tucson, Arizona on NBC Sports Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25 2:00-6:00 p.m., ET. As part of the agreement, NBC Sports – as part of its newly launched golf section on NBCSports.com – will utilize Golfweek writers and columnists in NBC-produced broadband reports from key professional golf events. The announcement was made by Perkins Miller, Senior Vice President, NBC Sports & Olympics Digital Media, Dave Seanor, Vice President/Editor Golfweek and Clayton Morris, Vice President, Turnstile Publishing Company, the parent company of the popular golf magazine.
"Our alliance with Golfweek provides a deeper level of professional golf coverage to both NBCSports.com and Golfweek.com by exchanging content, branding and promotion. It also leverages the unsurpassed Amateur, Junior and Collegiate golf coverage from Golfweek," said NBC’s Miller.
"We are very excited to partner with NBCSports.com to enhance golf coverage on both Web sites," said Al Snow Marketing Director for Golfweek Magazine. "When you take Golfweek’s thirty-one year history of providing unparalleled coverage of the game of golf and couple that with the rich tradition and reputation of NBC Sports, visitors to both Web sites will be able to experience the most in-depth coverage of the game of golf available anywhere."
In addition, Golfweek columnists/writers will provide blogs from key pro golf events and Golfweek’s weekly "Preferred Lies" broadband video program will appear on NBCSports.com. Golfweek will provide rankings from its highly regarded Golfweek’s Best Golf Course Ranking system that will further enhance local network affiliates coverage of golf in their local markets. NBC will also provide links for Golfweek’s Sagarin Performance Rankings for Pro, Amateur, Junior and Collegiate golf as well as Golfweek’s "Around Campus" and Amateur Summer" video programming.
