ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – For the fourth consecutive year, the International Network Of Golf Spring Conference will qualify a team to represent the United States in the International Pairs World Finals in St. Andrew, Scotland. The qualifier takes place at the 17th Annual ING Spring Conference June 3-7 at Turning Stone Resort & Casino.
The winning ING pair will receive a trip to St. Andrews to compete in the July 1-3 global competition at St. Andrews Bay Resort against nearly three dozen other countries. The duo’s airfare, three nights accommodations and some meals will be complimentary.
The winning team will be determined from the qualifier held at beautiful Turning Stone’s Kaluhyat Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. It will be held on Wednesday, June 6.
The International Network Of Golf, a 17-year-old non-profit, media-based networking organization whose mission is to bring together members of the media and business communities to enhance communication in golf, conducts the conference, which is expected to attract over 225 people.
ING is open to anyone in the golf industry or media.
"We are delighted to once again be working with the ING," said Ross Honey, Founder of the 8-year-old International Pairs competition Honey, whose event has been a huge success in Europe and in dozens of other countries across the globe. "The ING team has represented the USA very well the past three years, and I have no doubt the same will be the case in 2007. We conduct a first-class competition, and we believe the ING matches that quality at its Spring Conference. It’s a nice partnership."
The 2006 champions were Bob Dodds of the Professional Clubmakers Society and Bill Fullard of African American Golfers Digest. They won the best ball net quota tournament at Tobacco Road in the Sandhills of North Carolina last May, then finished fifth in the World Finals at Celtic Manor in Wales.
This year’s qualifier will occur at the incredible Turning Stone Resort, a PGA Tour host site and home to four golf courses. Kaluhyat is one of the toughest challenges in the state of New York, featuring dramatic changes in elevation, measuring as high as 50 feet in some areas, with plateau settings offering seemingly endless, spectacular views of the surrounding terrain. Kaluhyat is a classic shot-maker’s course where accuracy and strategy are rewarded as much as length. Players can also appreciate the diversity of the course, inviting them to navigate narrow, tree-lined fairways on some holes, while presenting an open links-style feel on other parts of the course. The site also includes six lakes.
In this net points quota game, players are allowed to choose their own partner
That is just one of three golf events for conference attendees to choose from. For those more interested in networking than competition, a four-player team scramble is scheduled opposite the two-player team events on Monday and Wednesday.
Several educational seminars are scheduled during the ING Spring Conference covering a variety of subjects to help attendees enhance their job skills and learn more about the industry.
