STOCKTON, Calif. — Golf’s leading innovator for custom-fitting, Nakashima Golf has added four new models to its HTEC driver line — which features interchangeable hosel technology and has been praised as the most innovative driver in golf. The new HTEC drivers include the TL-5 (13°), TL-6 (15°) in right-hand models, 9.5- and 10.5-degree left-hand models. All conform with USGA rules when permanently bonded at the connection of the body and hosel assembly.
Leading the revolution in custom-fitting, Nakashima Golf’s recent development of interchangeable hosel technology has generated buzz among industry insiders and the HTEC driver has been described as "the most innovative development in golf club manufacturing." The revolutionary design of the HTEC goes far beyond any equipment customization in golf today. Unlike other interchangeable component systems, the patent pending HTEC drivers conform with USGA rules when permanently bonded at the connection of the body and hosel assembly. This enables golfers to test an unlimited amount of driver head-shaft combinations and then buy and play with that exact best combination.
The key to maximizing distance is to find optimum launch conditions which is the ideal combination of launch angle and backspin for a particular ball speed. A golfers launch conditions can be checked with a launch monitor gitting on a ball launch monitor which is a state-of-the-art machine that records shots and analyzes the distance-determining variables: launch angle, spin rate and ball speed.
"One hundred percent of the golfers with whom we have done HTEC-Launch Monitor Fittings have increased their driving distance, with an average increase of over 20 yards," says John Nakashima, president and founder of Nakashima Golf. "The versatility of the HTEC design allows for clubhead or shaft changes to make small tweaks in ball speed, launch angle and spin. The increased distance and accuracy achieved with a perfectly fitted driver can be dramatic. Finding that ‘perfect’ driver with optimum launch conditions is easy with the HTEC driver. The numbers don’t lie!
"The HTEC allows the golfer to change only one variable at a time — either the clubhead or the shaft, not both," adds Nakashima. "This is a huge advantage during the fitting process. For the first time ever, when you see and feel a difference, you can be sure exactly why."
Featuring a classic pear shape, the Nakashima HTEC drivers possess an extremely high moment of inertia (MOI) that creates a huge sweet spot for maximum forgiveness and distance on off-center hits. HTEC drivers are constructed with a state-of-the-art two-piece, pull-face design and a body that is vacuum-cast from high-grade titanium. A forged clubface is plasma welded which optimizes energy transfer to the ball at impact.
At the heart of the HTEC design is the driver’s completely removable hosel made from CNC-milled 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum, a feature that allows the Nakashima HTEC head to be quickly and easily assembled with any shaft. The removable hosel-shaft is inserted into the HTEC head and secured with a stainless steel screw which is available in three different weights (10-, 12- and 14-grams). The various screw weights give golfers the ability to fine tune the HTEC driver to exact swing weights.
