WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 2, 2006) – The GolfStyles Media Group is celebrating the first anniversary of its hit weekly radio show, GolfStyles Live. The show debuted on March 4, 2006
The fast-paced, interview-driven show is hosted by Tony Leodora, associate publisher/editor of GolfStyles Philadelphia. Leodora, an award-winning golf writer, also has a number of years of experience in radio. In 2003 he hosted a show that was honored as best golf radio show in the country by the International Network of Golf.
GolfStyles Live airs from 7 to 8 a.m. each Saturday on WNTP, 990-AM, the Philadelphia area’s fastest-growing talk station. Aside from news talk, WNTP is also the home of other sports programming such as Penn State football and basketball, St. Joseph’s basketball, and Drexel basketball.
"GolfStyles Live has been an excellent addition to our programming schedule," said WNTP vice president/general manager Russ Whitnah. "Partnering with a recognized leader in the golf publications industry such as GolfStyles puts us more in touch with our local market and gives us a recognized presence in Philadelphia’s great golf community."
Leodora’s fast-paced interview style has brought some of the biggest and brightest names from local, regional and national golf to the show each Saturday morning. He has combined the interviews with regular features such as "The Traveling Golfer," "The Golfer’s Closet," "The Shore Report," "The Equipment Corner" and "The Superintendent’s Corner."
"The radio show makes my job at the magazine easier, just as the magazine makes the job on the radio easier," said Leodora. "The weekly radio show gives me an opportunity to expand on the great stories we run in the magazine. As an extension of the magazine, GolfStyles Live has given the golfers and the golf industry all that could be needed in golf and golf lifestyle coverage.
"We looked at this as an effort to support the magazine – its content, its courses and its advertisers," said Michael Keating, publisher of GolfStyles. "We have an excellent magazine, one of the best and most active websites in the business and now we have a radio show that completes the overall package. The first year brought more than we ever expected and we regard this project as another way of staying on the leading edge of the golf industry."
GolfStyles is the third-largest golf magazine in the country, with a circulation of more than 315,000 per issue. The magazine is published in seven regions – Philadelphia, Washington, New Jersey, Boston, Ohio, Carolina and Atlanta. Throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region it is published eight times per year.
