LAFAYETTE HILL, PA (March 2, 2006) – WNTP News talk 990-AM, the fastest growing talk station in the Philadelphia area, has unveiled a series of one-minute golf commentaries by Tony Leodora, host of its weekly GolfStyles Live radio show The commentaries will air throughout the day, Thursday through Sunday. The series, titled "The GolfStyles Minute with Tony Leodora" will cover highlights of upcoming GolfStyles Live shows, as well as hot-button topics in the world of golf.
"After one year with GolfStyles Live on the air, we realized that the radio show had quickly developed a large and enthusiastic audience," said Russ Whitnah, vice president and general manager of WNTP. "They read the magazine, they come out to the live remotes, they live, eat and breathe golf. It became obvious that, in such a popular golf area, we want to add to our golf coverage."
"I have never been afraid to express my opinion," said Leodora, associate publisher and editor of GolfStyles Philadelphia. "These commentaries give me an opportunity to reach some of the other listeners who don’t get to hear the Saturday morning show. Maybe some of my comments will encourage them to start listening to the show. And maybe some of the comments will cause them to drive off the road. In any case, look for the comments to be sometimes informative, sometimes controversial but always entertaining."
WNTP 990-AM is a 50,000-watt station in Philadelphia with offices in Lafayette Hill. Aside from news talk during the day, it has other sports programming such as This Week in Pro Football, Penn State football and basketball, St. Joseph’s basketball and Drexel basketball
