More Than $1.5 Million Awarded Since Inception in 1996

Fairhaven, MA (March 6, 2007) – Acushnet Company, a longtime partner of The PGA of America in supporting PGA Professional education and business opportunities through its Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra Golf brands, announces the 2006 recipients from the Acushnet PGA Apprentice Scholarship Program.

The scholarship program, which Acushnet dedicates to future industry leaders, provides financial aid to the highest achievers in Level 3 of the PGA Professional Golf Management Program. Acushnet PGA Apprentice Scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded in 2006 to 113 Level 3 graduates of the Professional Golf Management program. Scholarships are awarded to the top graduate from each PGA Section, based upon the size of each Section’s membership. Scholarships were also awarded to the top 25 graduates not otherwise recognized by a PGA Section. Additionally, a scholarship was awarded to the top PGM graduate from each of the PGA/PGM accredited universities. In total this represents an annual investment in excess of $120,000 in Apprentice Education. Acushnet has awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships to these worthy recipients since its inception in 1996.

"Acushnet has a long history of supporting the educational pursuits of the aspiring PGA members," said Peter Broome, Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships, Acushnet Company. "We firmly believe that these Professionals will be the industry leaders of tomorrow, and therefore we want to assist them in their quest to be the best professionals they can be. The PGM program serves as an important foundation for these future professionals and we are proud to make this investment in the future of the profession and the game."

"The PGA of America recognizes the commitment required of its apprentice professionals to have a productive career in our Association and we are very pleased that Acushnet makes its own commitment to these individuals by continuing its support of the scholarship program," said PGA of America President Brian Whitcomb. "Acushnet has been a friend and supporter of PGA Professionals for decades and its dedication to our current and future member professionals is reflected in their commitment to education."
