LIMERICK Pa. (March 12, 2007) – Raven’s Claw Golf Club, entering its second full year as Montgomery County’s premier daily fee golf course, took another step forward with the announcement of Dean Frohnapfel as its new head golf professional.
Frohnapfel comes to Raven’s Claw after spending six years as the first assistant professional at Waynesborough CC. Before that he learned the business under one of America’s Top 50 golf instructors, Bob Thatcher, at Olde Masters GC. He also worked at Cypress Knoll GC in Palm Coast, Florida.
Frohnapfel, who has 12 years experience as a golf professional, is a native of the Lancaster area. He played high school golf at Manheim Township High School and was a teammate of PGA Tour star Jim Furyk.
"Dean was exactly the kind of professional we were looking for," said Bob Davis, owner of Raven’s Claw. "He is a skilled administrator but, more importantly, he has the people skills necessary in today’s competitive daily fee market. He will be a great host for the golfers who come to Raven’s Claw."
Frohnapfel is not concerned about making the transition from private to public golf course operations.
"I have worked on both sides of the business," said Frohnapfel. "I like the variety of people I can see on a daily basis at a club like Raven’s Claw. Also, I will be concentrating on cultivating the teaching, outing and tournament programs."
Situated on the western edge of Pennsylvania’s golf-rich Montgomery County, Raven’s Claw GC is an award-winning Ed Shearon-designed course. The course opened in July of 2005 and has matured into one of the top-rated daily fee courses in Pennsylvania.
Raven’s Claw is carved from a natural piece of property that contained all of the necessary ingredients for a great golf course. There was just the right amount of elevation change, large hardwood trees, two picturesque streams and scenic vistas of the surrounding countryside. In addition, there is convenient access from the more populated areas to the east, via the nearby 422 bypass.
