Beginning at The Masters, Special Shoes Honor Woods’ 10 Years of Major Championship Dominance

BEAVERTON, Ore. (March 28, 2007) – To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Tiger Woods winning his first major championship at The Masters in 1997, and as a tribute to his 10 years of major championship dominance, Nike Golf is introducing Tiger Woods(TW) Limited Edition footwear.

The TW Limited Edition comprises four different styles of the popular SP 8 TW Tour, each designed specifically for the major championships in 2007.

Woods will debut the first Limited Edition style, available at retail on April 1, 2007, during The Masters from April 5-8, 2007. The remaining Tiger Woods Limited Edition styles worn by Woods at the U.S. Open, The Open Championship and the PGA Championship will be available at retail on June 1, July 1 and August 1, respectively, all at a suggested retail price of $220.00.

"The SP 8 TW Tour has been a very popular shoe among consumers and, as such, is selling extremely well," said Mike Forsey, Category Business Director for Nike Golf. "We felt it was fitting to honor Tiger’s success in the majors by creating special shoes that are symbolic of his 10 years of major championship dominance while, at the same time, contributing to a foundation that is so important to him."

As part of the promotion, Nike Golf will be giving away a total of eight autographed shoes. Tiger Woods will sign two shoes, one left and one right, per major championship. To have an opportunity to receive an autographed shoe, consumers can register online at www.nikegolf.com for a chance to win.

To differentiate from Nike Golf’s standard SP 8 TW Tour, the TW Limited Edition features a distinctive "TW 10" logo laser etched on the heel, as well as a Tiger Woods Foundation logo inside the shoe.

The TW Limited Edition colorways are:

  • The Masters – white/dark army
  • U.S. Open – carmel/bronze
  • The Open Championship – black/varsity crimson
  • The PGA Championship – white/black dusty red

The SP 8 TW Tour features Nike Golf’s Power Platform that comprises four vital technologies, including the Nike Power Channel; Forefoot Flex Channel; Medial (Inside) Push Plate and the Lateral (Outside) Stability Plate. These technologies combine to provide golfers with total traction, total comfort, stability and power. The TW Limited Edition styles also feature:

    Premium full-grain leather

    Low profile caged Air-Sole unit

    Full-length Poron sockliner

TPU T@C with Nike Power Channel outsole

    2-year Limited Waterproof Warranty

Scorpion Stinger Spikes and Q-LOK System

Laser etched logo on heel to commemorate Tiger Woods’ 10th anniversary of his first major victory and 10 years of major dominance

The Tiger Woods Limited Edition will be available at select retail stores and golf shops. For more information on availability, log onto www.nikegolf.com.
