Highly-Decorated St. Joe Golf Properties Lauded for Design, Conditioning
(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) – Camp Creek and Victoria Hills — award-winning golf properties developed by the St. Joe Company – are ranked among Florida’s best courses in Golfweek’s 2007 Best You Can Play, State-by-State rankings.
This distinction marks the fourth consecutive year Camp Creek and Victoria Hills have ranked among the top 15 in the Sunshine State, solidifying their position among the elite layouts in America. Camp Creek landed at No. 14, Victoria Hills at No. 9 in the 2007 edition. The survey, which included more than 700 Florida courses, examined overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety and memorability of holes, conditioning and maintenance, landscape management and other criteria.
"The rankings are a testament to St. Joe’s commitment to providing the highest quality golf courses and experiences," says Will Hopkins, General Manager at Camp Creek. "Camp Creek is honored to be included, and highly ranked and regarded by Golfweek."
Adds Victoria Hills Head Professional Matt Payne, "Victoria Hills is excited about the latest Golfweek ratings and to be considered one of the best courses in a state endowed with a preponderance of great golf."
Both Camp Creek and Victoria Hills have been selected by the United States Golf Association and Florida State Golf Association to host U.S. Open Local Qualifiers in 2007. In selecting the courses, the USGA and FSGA cited their championship-caliber layouts, commitment to conditioning and ample practice facilities.

About Camp Creek
Since opening in 2001, Camp Creek has been consistently cited as one of Tom Fazio’s most thought-provoking, aesthetically-stunning design credits. Featuring a unique "dunescape" appearance, the course was created as a private club for property owners at select St. Joe communities, and guests of St. Joe’s WaterColor and WaterSound Beach resorts. From the back green tees, the course plays to a championship caliber yardage of 7,159 and a formidable slope rating of 145. Camp Creek’s five-tee configuration, which also includes gold (senior) and red (women’s) tees, accommodates players of all skill and experience levels. Travel + Leisure Golf recently recognized Camp Creek as "Florida’s No. 1 Course of the New Millennium." It has also been recognized for its environmental stewardship through designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS). Superintendent Larry Livingston was similarly distinguished as a certified Audubon Steward.
About Victoria Hills Golf Club
Victoria Hills Golf Club was named one of Florida’s "Hidden Gems" by Travel + Leisure Golf Magazine, and has quickly become one of the most sought-after rounds of golf in Central Florida. Tucked away in the historic college town of DeLand, the course is conveniently located between Orlando and Daytona Beach. Designed by Ron Garl, the stunning layout boasts more than 50-feet of elevation change, taking advantage of the area’s natural rolling hills, foliage and wetlands. Tall pines and majestic oaks frame the course while sandy waste areas and pristine lakes make for inspiring sight lines.
