Professionals Playing Graphite Design Shafts Excel at Tour’s Toughest Venue

(SAN DIEGO, California) – Graphite Design — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver shaft models on the PGA TOUR — today announces three top-four finishers at the Nationwide Tour’s Livermore Valley Wine Country Championship played Graphite Design shaft models, according to the Darrell Survey.

The top-four finishers utilized a variety of Graphite Design models, including the YS-6, YS-7, Tour GAT and Prototype Model. In all, five top-nine finishers at the event used Graphite Design shafts. The group excelled under difficult conditions at the Course at Wente Vineyards, where the winning score was even-par 288. Wente Vineyards ranked as the Nationwide Tour’s toughest course in 2006.

"The Nationwide Tour is home to some of golf’s top rising talent and we’re proud that so many players turn to Graphite Design shafts to get the most from their games," said Victor Afable, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Graphite Design. "Amateurs can enjoy the same distance and accuracy advantages players on the game’s most competitive tours gain by playing Graphite Design shafts."

In 2006, Graphite Design shafts were played by 41 winners of professional tournaments worldwide. Players using Graphite Design shafts amassed more than $90 million in PGA TOUR earnings in 2006 while the company earned more graphite wood-shaft model count victories on the PGA TOUR (16) than any other manufacturer. On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were in the bags of 18 winners in 2006 while the company extended its win streak in the wood-shaft brand count to 134 consecutive tournaments – an unprecedented string dating to 2002.

Graphite Design is the graphite shaftmaker of choice for Hank Haney, coach to the world’s top-ranked player. The company recently introduced its G-TECH combination-flex custom clubmaker series of wood and iron shafts, designed for exceptional playability throughout the bag.
