AVON PARK, Florida (Tuesday, April 3, 2007): Golf courses in Florida and California that are grassed with SeaDwarf Seashore Paspalum, an environmentally friendly turfgrass from Environmental Turf, are high in the Golf Digest State-by-State rankings just released. The rankings published in the May 2007 issue of Golf Digest are available online today.
Tuscany Reserve, a golf course in Naples, Florida, that is grassed tee-to-green with SeaDwarf, is named as the #22 golf course in Golf Digest’s Florida list of Best in State rankings for 2007-2008.
Two California courses that use SeaDwarf in limited areas were also ranked highly.
The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, located in Rancho Sante Fe, California, is ranked #18 in the California State-by-State list. The Bridges currently has SeaDwarf on one tee. Shady Canyon Golf Club in Irvine, California, ranked #19, has SeaDwarf on a practice green.
"Whether used tee-to-green on a golf course or just on small areas as a test, it is clear that SeaDwarf Seashore Paspalum has captured the attention of the game’s most influential leaders. To have SeaDwarf in use on some of the country’s finest facilities is a testament to the grasses’ playability as well as its environmentally friendly attributes. We are thrilled every time a prestigious ranking like this is published and a golf course using SeaDwarf is included," said Stacie Zinn, president of Environmental Turf, the company that licenses sod producers to grow SeaDwarf and markets the grass world-wide.
SeaDwarf Seashore Paspalum is the only true dwarf cultivar of all the paspalums on the market today, delivering the finest texture, fastest greens and lowest mowing heights. SeaDwarf requires up to 50% less water for irrigation than the bermudagrasses traditionally used on warm-season golf courses. It also requires approximately 75% less nitrogen for fertilization than bermudagrass. SeaDwarf may be irrigated with nearly any quality water, from potable to effluent, even seawater under proper maintenance. Plus, salt may be used as an herbicide.
SeaDwarf Seashore Paspalum is available through Environmental Turf and its domestic and international network of certified licensed sod producers. Please contact Environmental Turf for more information at: www.environmentalturf.com or 863-452-6595.
