Georgia Replaces Stanford as Top Team; Lamar Jumps Into Top Ten

NEW YORK, NY—The third Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the April 6 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com/menspoll.

Georgia, previously ranked number three, has claimed the top spot from Stanford. The Bulldogs won their last start at the E-Z-Go Schenkel Invitational; it was their second win of the spring. They play one more event—the U.S. Collegiate next week—before trying to defend their SEC title.

Stanford dropped to No.2, despite getting 18 of the 25 first-place votes. The Cardinal finished fifth at the Oregon Duck Invitational—just their second finish out of the top-two in any tournament all season.

Lamar comes in at No.7, after being ranked No.15 in the previous poll. The Cardinals have won three straight tournaments and have five wins on the season. This is the school’s highest ranking of the season.

Rounding out the top five are: Alabama (No.3); Florida (No.4); Southern California (No.5). Auburn (No.24) enters the top twenty-five for the first time after not being ranked in the previous two polls.
