Revamped 2007 Series to Feature Golf Tips From Jim Furyk, Fred Funk, Andy North and sports psychologist Dr. Travis Fox
DENVER, CO – April 6, 2007 – Golf Life, the nation’s leading independent golf lifestyle television series, has been redesigned for the series’ eighth season and will feature the best aspects of the franchise’s "Golf Life Destinations," "Golf Life Gear," and "Golf Life Academy" formats, it was announced today. The result is a compelling series that integrates all aspects of the golfing lifestyle in a manner that will entertain the golf connoisseur and the occasional golfer alike.
Golf Life Television will be featured on Fox Sports Net (FSN) during the 2007 season. As such, Golf Life will reach approximately 80 million homes in the United States. Each episode of the ten-part series (30-minute episodes) will also be available on Golf Life’s online video channel (http://www.golflifetv.com). In addition a Golf Life online video player is featured on golf related sites including Golf Tips Magazine (http://www.golftipsmag.com) and through online video portals such as You Tube, Google Video, AOL Video and I-Tunes Podcasts.
Highlighting the 2007 version of Golf Life are highly-anticipated tips featuring the number two-ranked player in the world, Jim Furyk, senior sensation Fred Funk, and two-time U.S. Open winner Andy North. The Furyk and Funk tips are provided by series sponsor Expert Insight (http://www.expertinsight.com). In addition, renowned sports psychologist, Dr. Travis Fox, of "Beat the Bogey Man" fame (http://www.beatthebogeyman.com), will have regular features on mastering the mental game.
The series will be hosted by engaging golf professional Erica Webster, who will highlight great golf destinations around the world by playing a round with the local head golf pro. Additional segments will include tip-based segments presented by Golf Tips Magazine (http://www.golftipsmag.com), and a "Golf Games" segment, featuring poker superstar and avid golfer Phil Gordon.
"The Golf Life series has evolved nicely over the years, to the point where it is widely-respected as the premier golf lifestyle series in the marketplace," said Michael Billingsley, executive producer of the series. "We’ve spent a lot of time listening to what our target audience wants and I think this new format strikes just the right balance between information and entertainment."
Another enhancement for Golf Life, vintage 2007, is the fact that Action Television, the creator of the television series, has merged with Denver based SportsHD Productions. SportsHD is a leading sports-based production company that develops programming in both high definition and standard definition. As a result, for the first time, this year’s Golf Life series will be shot in high definition and made available for distribution in both high definition and standard definition.
"The Golf Life series has a proven track record while still having excellent growth potential," said Matt Bortz, SportsHD’s president. "We’re thrilled to team up with a proven golf producer like Michael Billingsley and look forward to opportunities to add value to this strong franchise."
Golf Life recently announced two major sponsors for the series. Golf Tips magazine, the game’s most in-depth instruction and equipment magazine, will have an ongoing presence in the series. Alternatively, Golf Life will be prominently positioned in the magazine. In addition, Super Stroke, an oversized, lightweight putting grip, is now part of the Golf Life team. Super Stroke won the "Best New Product" award at the PGA Merchandise Show. Andy North’s tips in the Golf Life series will be sponsored by Super Stroke.
