Acclaimed Southwest Oklahoma Golf Course Community Continues to Collect Honors
(Southwest Oklahoma) – The Territory, a golf and residential community outside the quaint town of Duncan, has been honored as one of Oklahoma’s best golf courses in Golf Digest Magazine’s biennial ranking of the "America’s Greatest Courses State by State 2007-08."
The Randy Heckenkemper design – stretching to 7,100 yards from the tips and featuring five sets of tees – was rated No. 10 in Oklahoma by Golf Digest raters.
Golf Digest’s biennial best-in-state rankings are determined by the magazine’s course rating panelists, a group of more than 800 low-handicap golfers who rated thousands of courses across the United States on a 10-point scale in various criteria to come up with the best courses in each state. There are roughly 17,000 golf courses in the country.
These updated state-by-state rankings appear in the April 2007 issue of Golf Digest which is currently on newsstands.

In addition to earning a spot on Golf Digest’s state-by-state list, The Territory has also been ranked No. 10 nationally on Golfweek’s "Top 50 Best New Courses" list.
In just its first two full seasons of play, The Territory has hosted the Oklahoma State Amateur, Senior State Amateur and an NCAA Division II Super Regional. In July, the Tight Lies Tour will bring the Halliburton Southwest Oklahoma Championship to the club. With generous landing areas and spacious greens, the course offers exceptional playability, but challenges the best players with undulating terrain and native vegetation framing the fairways.

About The Territory
The Territory is a golf and country club community located in Southwest Oklahoma. The course, which opened in 2004 and garnered a Top 10 ranking on Golfweek’s Top 50 Best New Courses list, has hosted the Oklahoma State Amateur, Oklahoma State Senior Amateur and an NCAA Division II Super Regional.
With five sets of tees – ranging from 4,845 to 7,110 yards – the modified target-golf course offers playability and enjoyment to players of all ages and skill levels. The greens are an A1-A4 creeping bentgrass blend, the tees, fairways and roughs are Tifsport Bermudagrass and native vegetation frames the playing corridors.
Prospector’s Ridge, the first planned phase at The Territory, is in the early stages of development. Three custom homes are now completed and occupied, while one spec home is finished and two others are nearing completion. On 16 of the 47 lots, Tuscany style homes are being developed by Majestic Builders of Lawton, Okla. Prices of lots available range from $68,000 to $135,000. Were a similar, high-quality property like The Territory located in the nearby Dallas-Fort Worth area it would likely cost three times as much.
