SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The San Diego Golf Academy (SDGA) proudly announces that it will attend the Ta’aleem 2007 educational conference in Doha, Qatar, on 4/29-5/2, 2007 and the 2007 Middle East Education Fair, the largest educational event in the Persian Gulf region, held in Bahrain on May 8-10, 2007.
The Middle East Education Fair is the Middle East’s largest career and training exhibition in Bahrain and Qatar, and SDGA will be among other internationally recognized educational institutions and schools to exhibit and recruit students from the Gulf region.
"This is our first endeavor into the Middle East, an area of the world which is particularly pro-education and very pro golf," says Reza Jamshidi, SDGA director of foreign affairs. "Education and training in a variety of industries are receiving a great deal of attention as the region begins to globalize and boost economies, and the region’s commitment to the game of golf offers some great opportunities to reach thousands of potential students for SDGA."
Golf is growing quickly in the Middle East, explains Jamshidi. Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for example, is one of the fastest growing top-end golf destinations in the world, and the Emirates Golf Club is home to the PGA European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic. In fact, according to the inaugural KPMG Golf Benchmark Survey Summary Report, average revenues at golf courses in Dubai and the UAE are four times greater than those in Portugal, the highest performing country in Europe.
Founded in 1974, SDGA is the oldest and largest two-year golf college in the world. SDGA offers a 16-month program of golf instruction and golf business management on five campus locations in major golf markets — Phoenix, Honolulu, Myrtle Beach, Orlando and San Diego. The curriculum is designed to provide graduates with the education required to get the golf job they desire. The SDGA is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), a national advocate and institutional voice for self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation.
