Patent Pending Set Optimizer And Hybrid Fit Club Will Help Players of All Abilities Select The Appropriate Clubs To Improve Their Game

Norcross, GA (April 11, 2007) – Mizuno, the leader in golf technology, introduces the next quantum leap in club fitting technology, the Set Optimizer utilizing the innovative "Hybrid Fit" club. The purpose of this patent pending system from Mizuno is to remove the confusion associated with selecting the appropriate clubs to fill the gap between a 3-wood and 5-iron, to achieve the optimal set make-up. In order to determine that perfect set make-up, two key swing characteristics are measured: clubhead speed and attack angle. These parameters determine the golfer’s ability to generate adequate lift for an ideal trajectory. The end result is a recommended set make-up that provides the ideal distance gaps between 3-wood and 5-iron for increased forgiveness and playability over a traditional fairway wood/long iron set make-up.

Almost every golfer will carry a Driver, 3-wood, and 5 iron through Pitching Wedge. The Mizuno Hybrid Fit club and Set Optimizer helps the player find the perfect mix of fairway woods, hybrids, and irons to ideally fit their game. This is achieved through the use of a patent pending "Hybrid Fit" Club equipped with a custom made impact tape which is fitted to the sole of the club to a measure the player’s attack angle to the ball. The measure of attack angle is charted between 1 and 7, with 1 being the steepest attack angle, and 7 being the most shallow attack angle. The second variable, clubhead speed, is measured in Miles Per Hour through the use of a precision clubhead speed measuring device. Those two measurements are then applied to Mizuno’s patent pending Set Optimizer chart which will recommend the perfect three clubs to fill that player’s specific playing characteristics.

"Mizuno has always been proud of our industry leading fitting and custom club program" said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager of Mizuno USA, Golf Division. "And we’re extremely excited to introduce this revolutionary ‘Hybrid Fit’ club fitting tool to our over 2,000 fitting partners across the Country. We have no doubt that this will not only aid the fitter in recommending the appropriate set make-up for their customers, but also help players of all abilities enhance their golfing experience by giving them the right set make-up to perform at their very best."
