(San Francisco, CA) April 10, 2007 – Val Verhunce named director for the Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps at the Peacock Gap Golf Course in San Rafael, CA.
A PGA professional and Class ‘A’ member of the Professional Golfers Association of America, Verhunce brings to Nike more than 20 years of experience. In 2002 Verhunce was awarded the honor of NCPGA Club Fitter of the Year, a well-deserved award as he fits over 100 sets of clubs each year.

"Val brings so much to the program and his experience will really help in developing our junior golfers’ skills and techniques, just at that age where it is so critical."
Verhunce is currently the Men’s Head Golf Coach at Sonoma State University, and also owner and director of instruction for Golf Improvement Centers at Adobe Creek Golf Club, Peacock Gap Golf Course and Sonoma Mt. Golf Range. He has also been instructing for ESPN Golf Schools Presented by American Express for the past three years.
At Peacock Gap Golf Course, Verhunce will be director for Nike’s Junior Half Day Camps for junior golfers ages 5-15. The program begins in June and runs through July. Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps also offer Junior Resident and Junior Weeklong Day Camps, Advanced Player and Parent/Child Schools.
Programs are available at nearly 100 golf courses throughout the U.S. at some of the finest resort locations and top universities. Each camper will also receive a Nike amenities package that includes a Nike hat, a dozen Nike golf balls, and a Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps pocket-size workbook.
