Doral, Fla., April 17, 2007 â?¦ Doral Golf Resort & Spa, A Marriott Resort, one of the world’s premier resort golf destinations, today announced that Tom Trammell has been named the Director of Agronomy.
In this position, Trammell will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, including the maintenance, repair, and landscaping, for Doral’s five championship courses.
A Golf Course Superintendent for over 23 years, Trammell brings to Doral a wealth of knowledge and experience in resort course operations, having served as Golf Course Superintendent at some of the premier golf resorts in the country. Trammell most recently served as Superintendent at Tiburon Golf Club, a 36-hole facility in Naples, Florida, where he played a significant role in the clean-up and restoration of the course after Hurricane Wilma, in October, 2005. Prior to his time at Tiburon, he served as Golf Course Superintendent at Hawk’s Nest Golf Club in Vero Beach, Florida and MetroWest Country Club in Orlando, Florida.

In related news, Todd Evans has been promoted to Superintendent of the Blue Course. In his new role, Evans will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Blue Monster, site of the 2007 WGC-CA Championship. Evans has been part of the Doral team since 2005, having served as the Superintendent for both the Red and Gold Courses. A Class "A" Member of GCSAA since 1995, Evans has made a lasting impression at Doral, having developed and initiated a foliar fertility program on all greens, tees and fairways.
Prior to coming to Doral, Evans served as Director of Golf and Grounds for La Gorce Country Club in Miami, Florida as well as Golf Course Superintendent at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. Evans is a graduate of Edison Community College in Naples, Florida, and has also received a Turfgrass Certificate from Penn State World Campus.
