10 Tournaments remain on the schedule at some of California’s top courses

CARLSBAD, CA — The amateurgolf.com Tournament Series is starting to kick into high gear, with its flagship event, the Two Man Links Championship at Bandon Dunes, set to begin on Saturday, April 21st.

Located in Bandon, Oregon, the Bandon Dunes course sits 100 feet above the Pacific Ocean, and may be the closest one can come to a true links experience without traveling to Scotland or Ireland. As amateurgolf.com members have come to expect, this event will be covered daily in both story and video form.

The opening part of the season saw a number of highlights, with full fields and close competition dominating the eight events over 11 courses, which drew a total of more than 700 players.

Some of the highlights included David Leuterio catching fire after a hole-in-one at the Christmas Classic at Del Monte and eventually winning with a 30-foot birdie putt in the second playoff hole.

Randy Haag of the Olympic Club was the next to heat up, winning back-to-back tourneys. Haag took the Silicon Valley Amateur on January 21 and followed that up with a Feb. 11th victory at the Wine Country Cup.

Former motorcycle racing champion Jason Pridmore remained undefeated in amateurgolf.com events that he has entered by coming from six strokes back to win the California Mid-Amateur on April 1st.

The upcoming events look just as promising. On May 19-20 we play a first-year event at Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin, near Sacramento called the Capitol City Amateur. The course, which has hosted the Canadian Tour, has recently undergone a $700,000 facelift. On July 16-17 amateurgolf.com will again be holding the third annual San Diego County Amateur at The Golf Club of California in Fallbrook. The 36-hole event, which brings back a strong tradition in the San Diego area, is one of the fastest growing in the Tournament Series, and is played at one of the top private clubs in San Diego.

The Monterey Bay Championship, one of amateurgolf.com’s premier events, will be held May 26-27 at challenging Bayonet Black Horse, which is a host course for PGA Tour west coast qualifiers.
