Arizona State Takes Over Top Spot; Florida and UCLA Move Into Top-Ten
NEW YORK, NY—The fourth Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III, will appear in the April 20 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com/womenspoll.
Arizona State is the new top team, becoming the third different women’s team to be ranked number one this spring. The Sun Devils, who received 24 of the 27 first-place votes, have won their last three tournaments, including a 22-shot victory at the Ping/ASU Invitational.
Two teams have moved into the top-ten: Florida, at No.7 and UCLA, at No.9. The Lady Gators finished runner-up in their last two starts—the Bryan National Collegiate and the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic; the Bruins were runner-up to Arizona State at the Ping/ASU Invitational and tied for third at the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial.
New to the Top-25 this week is Alabama, at No.24. The Crimson Tide have had top-five finishes in their last two events.
Rounding out the top five are: Duke (No.2); Georgia (No.3); Auburn (No.4); Pepperdine (No.5).
