Company Continued Japan Tour Dominance, Winning Graphite Shaft Brand Count for 136th Consecutive Event

(SAN DIEGO, California) – Graphite Design — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver shaft models on the PGA TOUR — today announces its YS-Hybrid 85 shaft led the hybrid shaft model count at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, according to the Darrell Survey.

At the Zurich Classic, a total of 13 YS-Hybrid 85 models were played by professionals, including a third-place finisher. The YS-Hybrid 85 was also the most-played hybrid shaft at the PGA TOUR’s Mayakoba Golf Classic earlier this year. Zurich Classic competitors also used Graphite Design’s YS-Hybrid 105 shaft and Tour AD 95 in hybrid clubs.

"As more and more professional golfers replace their long irons with hybrids, they’re turning to Graphite Design’s YS-Hybrid for the same unparalleled performance that our YS line delivers in drivers and fairway woods," said Victor Afable, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Graphite Design. "When it comes to feel, power and accuracy, Graphite Design models deliver throughout the bags of world-class golfers and amateurs alike."

At the Japan Tour’s Tsuruya Open, Graphite Design led the graphite wood shaft model count with 162 shafts in play – 55 more than the nearest competitor – to claim its 136th consecutive victory in that category. Graphite Design’s Tour AD Quattro Tech, recently introduced to the U.S. market, and PT7 led the way with 23 of each model in play.

In 2006, Graphite Design shafts were played by 41 winners of professional tournaments worldwide. Players using Graphite Design shafts amassed more than $90 million in PGA TOUR earnings in 2006 while the company earned more graphite wood-shaft model count victories on the PGA TOUR (16) than any other manufacturer. On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were in the bags of 18 winners in 2006 while the company extended its win streak in the wood-shaft brand count to 134 consecutive tournaments – an unprecedented string dating to 2002.

Graphite Design is the graphite shaftmaker of choice for Hank Haney, coach to the world’s top-ranked player. The company recently introduced its G-TECH combination-flex custom clubmaker series of wood and iron shafts, designed for exceptional playability throughout the bag.
