Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps Introduce New Parent/Child Schools
(San Francisco, CA) April 24, 2007 – For many busy parents, taking time off to play a round of golf just isn’t realistic. Many moms and dads are consumed with work and spend any free time that they do have with their families.
This year Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps introduced a new addition to its extensive lineup of junior golf training programs, Parent/Child Schools. These Schools allow parents to spend a couple days out on the course with their kids, learning and playing, together.
Parent/Child Schools encourage moms and dads alike, beginners and avid golfers, to get out there and play with their kids. The program provides parents an opportunity to spend some real quality time with their children while learning and teaching them a new sport.
Schools are available to players of any level, ages 7 and up. There aren’t too many sports where generations of players can play the game together. This new golf program allows parents and their kids to develop a new skill together, and since golf is such a great networking vehicle, working parents can also use their new found playing power on the course in their professional life as well.
"Parent/Child Schools allow parents a time where they can spend a couple days with their kids and learn a new sport, or hone their skills if they are players already," says Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps National Director, Jason West. "These schools are unique and offer a special learning environment where parents and kids can have this experience together, not many sports can offer that."
Parent/Child Schools typically take place over the weekend and are held either Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday. Each participant is evaluated by an experienced golf instructor so that players are learning techniques appropriate for their skill level.
Schools offer a small, group learning atmosphere, where over the course of the day participants will learn golf fundamentals and techniques. After a morning of learning and practicing out on the range, parents and kids will head out to the course with their instructor for a nine hole playing lesson. Players can then opt to head in or play the back nine together, without their instructor.
Parent/Child Schools are available at top courses across the country and are taught by some of the most regarded PGA and LPGA professionals in the industry. Schools begin in April and are held through August in several locations. In addition, Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps offer Junior Day and Resident Camps, as well as their Advanced Player Camps.
