Georgia Remains Number One; UCLA, Lamar Move Into Top Five

NEW YORK, NY—The fourth Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the April 27 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com/menspoll.

Georgia remains the top team, earning 18 of the 24 first-place votes. UCLA and Lamar, ranked eighth and seventh respectively in the previous poll, both moved into the top-five on the strength of their recent performances. The Bruins have finished second in their last two tournaments and today are playing the final round at the Pac-10 Championship, while the Cardinals notched their sixth win of the season at last week’s Southland Conference Championship.

Coastal Carolina has cracked the top-ten, coming in at No.9 after being ranked No.11 in the last poll. The Chanticleers cruised at the Big South Conference Championship, winning by 23 strokes over Winthrop. Senior Dustin Johnson, Coastal Carolina’s top player and an All-American candidate, won the individual title by 11 shots.

Charlotte (No.23) and Arizona (No.24) have moved back into the top twenty-five.
