(Johnson City, NY) — The Dick’s Sporting Goods Open today is pleased to announce player commitments for the inaugural Champions Tour event to be held this July 9th through 15th at the En-Joie Golf Course. The 5 Champions Tour Professionals announced today are in addition to 11 previously released participants. These 5 members of the 78 player field include: David Edwards, Keith Fergus, Bruce Fleisher, Scott Simpson and Bobby Wadkins.
David Edwards currently is ranked 1st in Driving Accuracy at 79.37%. His best finish on the Champions Tour in 2007 is T10th at the Turtle Bay Championship.
Currently ranked 6th in Charles Schwab Cup Points on the Champions Tour, Keith Fergus joins our 2007 field with a recent win at the Ginn Championship Hammock Beach Resort.
Bruce Fleisher currently ranks 3rd in Champions Tour Career money with $13,356,159. Fleisher’s best finish in 2007 is T11th at The ACE Group Classic.
1987 U.S. Open Champion Scott Simpson joins the inaugural field. In Simpson’s first Champions Tour season he won the 2006 Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach.
Bobby Wadkins best finish on the Champions Tour in 2007 is a 1st at The ACE Group Classic. He currently ranks 9th in Charles Schwab Cup Points on the Champions Tour.
These 5 players join previously committed players: Andy Bean, R.W. Eaks, Mark James, Don Pooley, Dana Quigley, Craig Stadler, Morris Hatalsky, Wayne Levi, J.C. Snead, Jim Thorpe and recently elected Golf Hall of Fame Member Curtis Strange.
Weekly Ticket packages are still available at the "Spring" discounted price of $65 thru May 31st. They are available at both local Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and the Tournament Office located in the Oakdale Mall. Additionally, tickets may be purchased online at www.DicksSportingGoodsOpen.com. Weekly booklets include admission to both recently announced concerts featuring Air Supply (Fri. 13th) and Hootie & the Blowfish (Sat. 14th).
