Winner, Five Top-Five Finishers at Nationwide Tour Event Played Graphite Design Models
(SAN DIEGO, California) – Graphite Design — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver shaft models on the PGA TOUR — today announces the winner was among five top-five finishers playing Graphite Design models at Nationwide Tour’s Henrico County Open, according to the Darrell Survey.
The winner carried Graphite Design’s Tour AD model in a hybrid club en route to victory, his first on the Nationwide Tour. Meanwhile, a runner-up counted on Graphite Design’s YS-9.1 shaft in a fairway wood. Three additional top-five finishers utilized Graphite Design shafts as well, including the PM 902 and YS-6 models. In fact, a leader in driving accuracy played the YS-6 while hitting 82.1 percent of fairways for the week.
"The Nationwide Tour ranks among the most talent-laden circuits in the world, and we are proud that so many of its players choose Graphite Design shafts," said Victor Afable, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Graphite Design. "Like their counterparts on the PGA TOUR and other professional tours – as well as amateurs of all abilities — Nationwide Tour competitors recognize the distance and accuracy advantages built into all Graphite Design shafts."
At the Crowns tournament on the Japan Tour, Graphite Design boasted 113 shafts in play – 30 more than the nearest competitor – to claim its 137th consecutive victory in the graphite wood shaft brand count.
In 2006, Graphite Design shafts were played by 41 winners of professional tournaments worldwide. Players using Graphite Design shafts amassed more than $90 million in PGA TOUR earnings in 2006 while the company earned more graphite wood-shaft model count victories on the PGA TOUR (16) than any other manufacturer. On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were in the bags of 18 winners in 2006 while the company extended its win streak in the wood-shaft brand count to 134 consecutive tournaments – an unprecedented string dating to 2002.
Graphite Design is the graphite shaftmaker of choice for Hank Haney, coach to the world’s top-ranked player. The company recently introduced its G-TECH combination-flex custom clubmaker series of wood and iron shafts, designed for exceptional playability throughout the bag.
