Champion and Runner-Up Played Idea Pro Hybrids
PLANO, TEXAS, May 1, 2007 – With 86 of its hybrids in play at the Henrico County Open last week, Adams Golf set a new single event hybrid count record, according to the Darrell Survey. The new record easily surpassed the previous mark of 71, set by Adams Golf at last season’s Oregon Classic. This was the 19th consecutive Nationwide Tour event that Adams Golf has topped the hybrid count.
With so many pros playing Adams Golf hybrids, it came as no surprise when the top two finishers at the event also carried the hybrids in their bags. The tournament champion played an 18-degree Idea Pro hybrid and the runner-up had a 20-degree Idea Pro in his bag. Adams Golf accounted for more than 50% of the total hybrids played at the tournament – 12 other hybrid manufacturers combined to make up the other half.
"I’ve been at Adams Golf since the early days of us begging players to put our clubs in their bags, now it’s just an awesome feeling to have so many of these elite players asking for our products," said Max Puglielli, director of tour operations. "It’s great to see all the yellow and black Idea Pro headcovers in the bags at each Nationwide Tour event. Our hybrids are superior to the competition and when you combine that with the professional service our tour team provides the players, it’s not surprising to see such high numbers like this past week."
By having the #1 hybrid played at the Henrico County Open and the #2 hybrid in play at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship, Adams Golf added to its lead in the combined hybrid count of the three major professional tours last week. So far in 2007, 1,255 Adams Golf hybrids have been played on the PGA, Champions and Nationwide Tours. The next two nearest competitors have had 813 and 288 of their hybrids, respectively, in play on the tours this year, according to Darrell Survey data.
