SACRAMENTO, Ca. – The Haggin Oaks Golf Complex today announced record numbers for their 32ndAnnual Haggin Oaks Golf Expo & Demo Days, April 27-29, at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, Calif.
Well over twelve thousand golfers traveled from as far as Southern California to "America’s Largest Demo Days" this past weekend. Visitors were able to test the hottest equipment and accessories from 150 manufacturers, experience the latest launch monitors in Haggin Oaks new Player Performance Studio, trade in old clubs, learn from golf lifestyle experts and shop in the newly expanded 15,000 square foot Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop.
"We (were) excited to partner with Ken Morton Jr. and the staff at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex to promote participation in the game and the latest products, services and accessories from a national spectrum of golf manufacturers," said PGA Golf Exhibitions Vice President and Show Manager Ed Several. "This demo event has a rich history of connecting golfers to the latest products and services that make the game more enjoyable and is a shining example of how golf will reach more occasional and new golfers in the future."
"We’re thrilled with the growth of this event and our new partnership with PGA Golf Exhibitions," says Ken Morton Jr., director of retail at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. "I’m sure my dad had no idea how much this would grow following his first attempt in 1977. We provide a great benefit to consumers who are able to talk to and be educated by experts. They can try and compare several models from many manufacturers and be fitted right on the spot for equipment. Our new partnership builds on our past success and we expect to raise the bar even higher."
Callaway, Nike, Ping, TaylorMade and Titleist/Cobra were among the manufacturers at the event. A manufacturer’s rep was on hand at each booth to expertly answer all questions. The latest 2007 equipment in all the available specs were on hand for free trials — a perfect opportunity to try out the hottest drivers and compare favorite models side-by-side.
In conjunction with The PGA of America’s national "Free Fitting & Trade Up Month", the Haggin Oaks Golf Demo Days & Expo also offered free club fitting and equipment trade-in opportunities. PGA Tour manufacturer-fitting vans were on hand including TaylorMade, Golf Pride, MacGregor, Cleveland Golf and Bridgestone. These technological marvels are manufacturing plants on wheels.
Many of the manufacturers’ representatives expressed the unique character of the Haggin Oaks event declaring that the Haggin Oaks Golf Expo is the largest, most well-run event of its kind in the country. Attendee Pat Kelley declared, "This is my first visit to Golf Expo and I’m completely amazed. To be able to compare all of the national clubmakers side-by-side and ask questions of the experts is an unprecedented opportunity. I’ve already marked my calendar for next year."
Golfers even cashed in on their "retired" golf gear. Haggin Oaks had trade-in specialists on hand, offering maximum dollar for thousands of clubs, staff bags, pull carts and old training aids. Gift certificates were issued on the spot for use in the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop. "So few places take them now, and there’s not much that we won’t take in," says Morton Jr. "Everybody has used equipment in their garages. They can clean it out and buy some new equipment utilizing their outdated equipment."
Golf lifestyle booths included health and fitness, travel, golf courses from Reno-Tahoe and the coast, as well as many different accessory lines.
