Acclaimed Golf Course – Idaho’s Newest – Receives Best-In-Kind Accolades from Golf Digest, ZAGAT Survey
TAMARACK, Idaho – Osprey Meadows at Tamarack Resort, the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. signature golf course at America’s newest all-season destination, has been named Idaho’s best public-access course in Golf Digest’s annual state-by-state ranking of America’s Greatest Courses.
It is relatively rare for a new course to be rated so highly by Golf Digest; this is just Osprey Meadows’ second season.
Golf Digest’s biennial best-in-state rankings are determined by the magazine’s course rating panelists, a group of more than 800 low-handicap golfers who rated thousands of courses across the United States on a 10-point scale in various criteria to come up with the best courses in each state.
In January, Golf Digest singled out Osprey Meadows as "America’s Best New Public Course" $75 and Over for 2006 – also known as the upscale category – which places it in the company of previous "best-new upscale" winners Pacific Dunes, Bandon Dunes and the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island.
To put Osprey Meadows’ honor in perspective, each of those three courses are now ranked on Golf Digest’s "America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses" – there are roughly 17,000 golf courses in the world, the vast majority in America – which is the gold standard for best-of-course lists in the world.
"For Golf Digest to recognize the spectacular design and poetic beauty of Osprey Meadows not just once, but twice, during our inaugural season is truly an honor," says Alfredo Miguel, Tamarack Chairman. "As this course matures, the richness of its ever-changing character will continue to entice all levels of golfers to come and enjoy a truly unique golf experience."
Osprey Meadows also was just named to the elite Zagat Survey 2007/08 Guide to America’s Top Golf Courses. Zagat is the world’s leading provider of consumer survey-based leisure content.
Among the most thorough rating guides in all of golf, ZAGAT covers 1,075 of the best courses in the United States, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Courses in the guide are rated based on the responses of more than 6,250 reviewers who play more than 560,000 rounds annually. Strength of layout, value, overall quality, facility and service standards are taken into consideration.
In recognizing Osprey Meadows, Zagat Survey noted the draw of activities beyond golf which drew people to the course at Tamarack Resort, stating "â?¦ many courses have taken to offering the complete resort experience. Osprey Meadows (ID), for example, is tucked away at the Tamarack Resort and offers hiking, fishing and rafting after the 19th hole."
Indeed, Tamarack Resort offers multiple stay-and-play packages throughout the season for golfers, including spa and lodging combinations. The unique convergence of mountain, meadow and lake amenities at the all-season destination means activities abound beyond the fairways.
Osprey Meadows will open for the 2007 season May 19 and continue through October. For information on booking stay-and-play packages or tee times, call 877.TAM.RESORT.
About Osprey Meadows

While showcasing panoramic views of mountain, meadow and lake, the course is spread over 400-acres of varied terrain featuring rolling meadows, creek crossings and forested holes.
