LIVERMORE, Calif. — Founder of the Seaver Golf Academy (SGA) and 2003 RE/MAX World Long Drive Senior Champion Eric Jones announces that an all-new pilot program at the SGA could revolutionize the standard golf instruction model. The new ‘Golf Coach Program’ teaching model motivates students to spend more time with a professional instructor and to learn new skills.
The innovative, new approach is an outgrowth of Jones’s experience and his sports psychology thesis research, which clearly demonstrated that regular participation in a structured program is one of the best and fastest ways to improve in an athletic activity. By design, the Golf Coach Program encourages players to spend as much time with a coach as possible and to learn new skills as well as address game improvement areas.
"The standard teaching model has students taking a 30- to 60-minute lesson and then practicing (hopefully) on their own until the next lesson," says Jones, who is also a former Stanford University golfer and JV/Assistant coach. "But the Golf Coach Program is designed to encourage players to spend more, focused practice time with a coach — something amateur adult players have not had access to in the past — and It helps them to make their practice time much more effective."
The Coach Program is a three-month program that begins with a monthly, 18-hole playing lesson and the development of a personalized 30-day improvement plan. Students may also attend any of the regularly scheduled practice sessions during the month, and work on their improvement plan under a coach’s supervision. In the Golf Coach Program, students can receive up to 50 hours of structured practice time — all at an affordable, flat rate.
"At the Seaver Golf Academy, we understand that every player’s swing and learning needs are unique, and that’s why we’ve developed an entirely new teaching approach that gives players more time to work under the watchful eye of an instructor. So far, we’ve had amazing success. The new Golf Coach Program is enabling students to learn more and they’re having a lot more fun."
Headquartered at the scenic Poppy Ridge Golf Course, the Seaver Golf Academy offers an instructional approach that balances swing mechanics with a scoring focus and positive mental techniques.
