In 2007 the Northern California Golf Association Foundation awarded more than $145,000 to organizations and programs that teach life skills and values through the game of golf to deserving youth in Northern California. Thanks to the generous donations of individuals, NCGA member clubs and corporate partners, the Foundation has now exceeded the $1 million level in grants awarded since its inception in 1989.
This year’s grant recipients represent a diverse group of youth programs including several regional First Tee chapters and a fourth grade elementary school program. The Foundation also funded an Oakland education initiative that teaches inner-city youth life skills as well as specific scientific disciplines such as biology and horticulture through turfgrass research. Through all of the programs that the NCGA Foundation funds, deserving youth are taught important life skills and values that will help them become better people and future leaders in Northern California.
