Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps Add a Site to Accommodate for Junior Demand
(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) May 10, 2007 – Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps announce the addition of a Junior Day Camp for this summer’s junior golf programs. The Tuscan Ridge Golf Club in Paradise, CA, is the newest location added to nearly 100 camp locations across the country. Tuscan Ridge will host the camp for one week only, July 30-August 3, 2007.
The Junior Day Camps will run from Monday – Friday, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and are for boys and girls, ages 8-17. Junior Day Camps are designed to help develop junior players’ basic golf fundamentals. Players will spend time in the morning learning basic techniques such as stance, grip, posture, pitching, putting, bunker play, full swing, and more. Participants will then have the afternoon to utilize their newly acquired skills out on the course for a nine-hole playing lesson with their instructor. Cost for attending the Tuscan Ridge camp is $489 for the week.
"The Junior Day Camps were created with the beginner to intermediate junior player in mind," states Marc Haddad, National Director for Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps. "Participants can really foster and further develop their golfing skills while having expert instructors coaching them every step."
Junior players will also learn to understand golf rules and etiquette, as well as course management and club selection. All important facets of any golfer’s game. Director of Instruction at the Tuscan Ridge Golf Club, Jay Berkowitz, will be instructing at this new location. Berkowitz is an experienced instructor, currently the Assistant Coach for the men’s and women’s golf teams at California State University, Chico.
Berkowitz has been an instructor for the Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps for nearly 10 years, instructing at the Monterey Peninsula Course in Pebble Beach, CA. He is still the Co-Director for that program, while he will also be heading up the newest program at Tuscan Ridge. He has trained numerous top amateurs, nationally ranked junior players, division one college golfers, as well as players on the PGA, Canadian, and European Tours. Berkowitz has also appeared in two U.S. Amateurs and one Public Links Championship during his golf career.
