SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – The Executive Women’s Golf Association hosts a charity golf tournament during U.S. Women’s Open week that includes a chance to play with LPGA legend Patty Sheehan.

The tourney is Friday, June 29, at National Golf Club and raises funds for the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program. It’s open to all golfers – male and female – and has a scramble format. During a silent auction the night before the tournament, three lucky golfers will win the opportunity to play with Sheehan.

Participants have the option of playing only in the Friday morning golf tournament, or buying packages that include the tournament, Thursday evening’s dinner, and tickets to the U.S. Women’s Open.

"This is an excellent opportunity for people to play our Jack Nicklaus course, contribute to the Girls Golf program and experience championship week in Southern Pines," said National director of golf Tom Parsons. "We encourage visitors and locals to participate in the EWGA festivities at the U.S. Open."

Proceeds raised by the EWGA go directly to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, a developmental junior golf program for girls age 7-17. Over the past five years, the EWGA has donated more than $300,000 to the program.

Entry fee for the golf tournament is $185. That includes all golf fees, prizes, breakfast and awards luncheon. Packages that include the tourney, additional gifts and U.S. Women’s Open tickets range from $295 to $395.

Registration is available online at www.ewga.com, or by calling Nancy Matus at (800) 407-1477, ext. 14.
