ATLANTA, GA (May 2007)- OB Sports of Scottsdale, Arizona has been selected to manage Horseshoe Bend Country Club. With over 30 years of experience, OB Sports has developed and managed more than 60 high-end club properties nationwide.
Phil Green, President of OB Sports commented, "While most of our company history has been in the Western United States, we’ve definitely grown towards the east coast over the past several years. We plan for Horseshoe Bend to become one of the top private country clubs in the Atlanta area and in doing so, become our "flagship property" in the Southeast."
Robert Barnett, President of Tattersall Holding Corporation, commented, "We made the decision to hire a management company to take the Club to the next level and were fortunate that OB Sports was looking to make an impact in the Southeastern market. We share a vision of what the Country Club should be and together I think we have the ability to execute that vision."
OB Sports has a long history with Horseshoe Bend through their experiences with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), which was headquartered on the grounds of Horseshoe Bend for twenty years. The CEO of OB Sports, Orrin Vincent was a founding member of the AJGA and was instrumental in establishing it as one of the most successful junior golf programs in the country.
Horseshoe Bend was the host site for many of the AJGA’s national championship tournaments, which have a prestigious history of champions and participants including Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson among many other familiar names. CA Roberts, Senior Vice President of OB Sports coordinated these tournaments as a staff member at the AJGA from 1989 through 1995, and serves on the board of the AJGA today.
Roberts considers his renewed association with Horseshoe Bend a true homecoming. "This club has a special place in my heart due to the many years I spent with the AJGA in the late 80’s and 90’s," Roberts explained. "Robert Barnett and the staff of Horseshoe Bend were always so gracious to us during that time, and basically treated us like members of the Club. I am very proud to be joining his team again."
In their first major management decision, OB Sports appointed Allen Jones as General Manager of Horseshoe Bend Country Club. Jones comes to Atlanta from Palm Springs at the Indian Wells Golf Resort, located in Indian Wells, California, where he directed all aspects of the facility operations. Indian Wells Golf Resort is the 2007 host of the LG Skins Game. He has been in the country club management business for over twenty years and worked at numerous country clubs. Jones is looking forward to the unlimited opportunities at Horseshoe Bend Country Club.
