PACOIMA, Calif. — Harrison Sports golf shafts accomplished the highest level of performance and reliability this weekend to win the Irish Open. The 35-year old Irishman winner became the first native son in 25 years to win the Irish Open, one of two European Tour events played in Ireland each season.
The Irish champion had more than luck on his side as he played with a Harrison Striper Long Drive graphite shaft in his driver and a Harrison Impulse shaft is his hybrid club.
"The course conditions at Adare Golf Club offered an incredible challenge and winds were gusting at 45 miles per hour, but the reliability and precision of Harrison shafts could easily be seen," says Mike Cheng, president of Harrison. "Both the Striper Long Drive and Impulse Hybrid shaft designs are extremely consistent and accurate."
The Striper Long Drive shaft features a high flex point and 3.5 degrees of torque and is composed of boron reinforced by X-6200 graphite. Harrison’s new Impulse Hybrid shaft, introduced in 2006, incorporates a patent-pending Inlay Titanium Matrix. The thin layer of titanium wrapped around the shaft’s tip section increases dependability, reducing shaft torque and dramatically improving accuracy. Hybrid-design clubs must often withstand more stress at impact due to turf contact, making enhanced stability a critical design factor for shafts. The Harrison Impulse shaft also possesses a lower balance point and produces a higher launch angle to more easily get the ball airborne. Impulse shafts are available as a fairway wood or utility iron.
