WILMINGTON, NC (May 24, 2007) – Golf at some of Scotland’s most renowned courses and a front-row seat for the final two rounds of the 136th British Open Championship at the venerable Carnoustie Golf Links are highlights of PerryGolf’s 2007 British Open tour, which features eight nights onboard the Clipper Adventurer.
A limited number of staterooms remain on the 122-passenger ship for the July 15-23 British Open by Sea tour, according to Gordon Dalgleish, president of PerryGolf, which has been operating golf tours to the British Isles for more than 20 years.
After guests arrive in Glasgow and transfer to Greenock, the exclusively chartered expedition vessel makes stops for golf at Prestwick, Ballyliffin, Royal Dornoch, Royal Aberdeen and Kingsbarns, as well as for sightseeing along the spectacular western coast of Scotland. Non-golfers will take in the sights at the island of Arran, Inverewe Gardens, Loch Ness, Crathes Castle and the historic city of Aberdeen.
Carnoustie is considered one of the most demanding of courses in the Open rota. Golf fans will recall the last time the Open was played at Carnoustie Frenchman Jean van de Velde squandered a three-shot lead on the last hole, opening the way for Paul Lawrie, a Scot from just up the road in Aberdeen, to claim the Claret Jug.
The tour includes meals, guaranteed tee times and green fees, ground transportation, sightseeing for non-golfers, admission to the Open Championship for scheduled rounds, gratuities, local taxes and service charges. Per person cost for the tour begins at $6,925.00 for golfers and $5,825.00 for non-golfers.
