New Hale Irwin Signature Design located above the famous Wisp Resort in Western Maryland
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA – OB Sports Golf Management has been selected to manage Lodestone Golf Club in McHenry, Maryland. Located on an expansive mountain ridge above Deep Creek Lake and the famous Wisp Resort, this premier private golf club will include a Hale Irwin Signature Design and will boast a wide range of mountain and lakeside amenities that capitalize on all four seasons including skiing, boarding, fly fishing, boating, tennis, fitness, spa, hiking, mountain coaster, kayaking, and more.
Construction on Lodestone Golf Club begins this summer with the course scheduled to open as early as spring of 2009. During the development phase, OB Sports will manage the golf course construction and work with the ownership group to finalize the membership sales strategies and business planning. Upon opening, OB Sports will manage all aspects of the golf club to include golf shop operations, food & beverage, guest services, membership sales and turf care.
In addition to their involvement at Lodestone, OB Sports will also be managing the nearby Wisp Resort Course. Named one of the "100 Must-Play Courses of the Mid-Atlantic" by GolfStyles Magazine, Wisp Resort Course features a 6,700-yard, par 71 layout that was designed around the natural contours at the base of Wisp ski slopes. OB Sports will be overseeing a renovation by Denver-based Design Workshop at Wisp Resort Course that includes rerouting and reconstructing four golf holes as well as other design and agronomic enhancements that will elevate the Wisp golfing experience for resort guests of the neighboring Wisp Resort.
