PLANO, TEXAS, May 28, 2007 – Adams Golf was the common brand of equipment between the Top 3 finishers at last week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. Not only was second-place finisher and Adams Golf Tour Staff Professional Bernhard Langer carrying a staff bag full of Adams equipment, so too were his fellow playoff contenders.
The tournament champion and fifth-ranked player on the PGA Tour Money List played an Idea a2 hybrid (18°). He’s played Adams Golf hybrids, including the Idea Pro, since the beginning of the 2006 season, in which time he has climbed to #16 in the World Golf Rankings.
Langer’s second-place finish was his best since winning the 2006 World Golf Championship in Barbados. The pinpoint accuracy he got with his Idea Pro irons, especially his 8 and 9-iron, led to 17 birdies and 49 pars in the soggy four rounds of the event. Langer also played the new Insight driver (9.5°) and the Insight 4-wood and 5-wood.
The third ranked player in the World Golf Rankings who tied Langer for second place also played the Insight fairway wood. He was dialed in all week leading the tournament field in the Greens In Regulation category, thanks partly to the Idea Pro hybrid (19°) that he also had in his bag.
"These three players, some of the best on tour, put on a display of precision shot-making that The Colonial demands," said Chip Brewer, Adams Golf CEO and president. "The wet conditions called for extra distance and accuracy that our golf clubs are designed for and I think each player benefited from that. It was an exciting finish to a terrific tournament."
